Parks Planning and Development Technologist

The Parks Services Department has an opening for a Parks Planning and Development Technologist. Reporting to the Manager of Park Planning, Capital Projects and Visitor Services, this position provides assistance in acquisition, planning, design and preparation of development plans for parks and recreation facilities in the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO). This includes participating in community consultation processes, completing park site surveys, presenting management plans, administering construction contracts, and supervising various park projects.
Diploma in Landscape Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or a related site planning discipline;
Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
Six months related experience in park and site planning and design;
Skilled in contract management;
Good Understanding of the BC Local Government Act;
Ability to complete site surveys and designs;
Excellent computer skills using MS Office;
Skilled in using GIS and CAD software (ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Vectorworks);
Skilled in using Inventory/Survey grade GPS technology;
Strong written, oral and graphic communication skills;
Valid BC Driver’s License with record of safe driving.
